Maverick, the bay horse in the Carnosine Equine logo, walking toward you

This is Maverick.

He is the horse in the logo, and the reason the company exists. Everything on this site was tried on him first.

Our team

Carnosine Equine came to carnosine the way most owners do, through horses that were working hard and taking longer to come right afterwards, and a search for something that did more than a feed supplement could.

Fortigo is the result of that search: a topical carnosine gel that goes on the muscles that did the work. We use it on our own horses and sell it to riders who want the same.

If you want to talk it through before you buy, the team answers the phone.

What Fortigo is

A carnosine gel for horses, in a 946 ml pump bottle. Carnosine is the molecule the muscle keeps to buffer the acid of hard work. Fed by mouth most of it is broken down before it reaches the muscle, so Fortigo goes on the skin over the muscle instead, as a magnesium carnosine complex that carries around 60% more carnosine into the lower skin layers than carnosine on its own.

It is dermatologically tested, classed as a non irritant, vegan friendly and not tested on animals.

The science in full

Fortigo explained in under a minute.

What the gel is, where it goes and who it is for.

Try it on one horse for a month.

Rub it in after the work and see how the horse comes out of the stable the next morning.
